Closing Ceremony: Hilton Seoul

Approaching a new way of archiving heritage with art & design

About the series, 《Closing Ceremony》
This series is the archive of the city's fading heritage. Depending on the subject matter, records often find expression in contemporary visual arts, including design, painting, and photography. The design studio Graphicabulary documented Seoul's monumental hotel in artwork and graphic patterns in this book, which was in operation from 1983 to 2022, spanning 40 years.

About Hilton Seoul
The hotel opened under the Seoul Hilton International brand and has undergone several minor name changes over the past 40 years. Under Hilton Worldwide's brand policy or sometimes the hotel's management contracts, the hotel has been renamed Seoul Hilton, Millennium Seoul Hilton, and Millennium Hilton Seoul. In this book, we will refer to this hotel as Hilton Seoul, two words that have never been erased.
Hilton Seoul is a notable landmark in modern architectural heritage. It was the second international chain hotel to open in Korea, greatly influencing the industry. Above all, this hotel holds the memories and meanings of all its visitors.
