Closing Ceremony: Hilton Seoul

Approaching a new way of archiving heritage with art & design

About the series, Closing Ceremony
This series is the archive of the city's fading heritage. Depending on the subject matter, records find expression in contemporary visual arts, such as design, painting, and photography. The design studio Graphicabulary recorded Seoul's monumental hotel in artwork and graphic patterns in this book, which disappeared after 40 years of business from 1983 to 2022.

About Hilton Seoul
The hotel opened under Seoul Hilton International and has had several minor name changes in 40 years. Under Hilton Worldwide's brand policy or sometimes the hotel's management contracts, the hotel has been renamed Seoul Hilton, Millennium Seoul Hilton, and Millennium Hilton Seoul. In this book, we will call this hotel Hilton Seoul, two words that have never been erased.
Hilton Seoul is highly significant in modern architectural heritage. It was the second international chain hotel to open in Korea and greatly influenced the industry. Above all, this hotel contains all visitors' memories and meanings.
